The lumbering wheels of democracy continue to turn

I don’t tend to get very political on the blog, but I am always amazed at how seamlessly we transition power. Problems? Of course! Shenanigans? Absolutely. Intimidation? Very likely! Stupidity? Why stop on Election Day?

But eventually we swap power with fanfare – we do it with paper and electrons, not bullets. So if your guy/gal lost or, for that matter, won you’d do well to remind yourself of this fact.

And as they say in Wrigley Field, there’s always next time.

I think elections are funny sometimes. Maybe it's just the fact that I've lived long enough to see people get tired of 'this' party, so they vote the other in. Four to 8 years later, they're tired of 'that' party, and they vote the first one back in again. Fickle, fickle America.

As I've mentioned before, I don't vote party. I vote based upon the individual. Period.

I think it's not so much generosity as it is pragmatism. For the most part, the contests were close and I hope people see that this isn't so much a mandate as an opportunity. The GOP had control for a while and people weren't happy with where things went, now they're giving the Dems a chance to see what they can do.

I'm cautiously optimistic.

Hear, hear.

How soon before we can start whining about this particular useless Congress? :-)
